I was offered a 20 gallon Hex aquarium. I was wondering what kinds of freshwater fish could I put in it? And how many?
I was going to use it for my Black Convict pair but was told it isn't big enough for them to be happy.

I wouldn't put a pair of cons in a 20g Hex. There isn't enough floorspace for the female to excape aggression. The min tank size I would use for a con pair is a 20g Long. For a 20g Hex, I would go with a pair of german blue rams and 5 cory cats...

pair of apistos and a school of small tetras of your choice, maybe a slab of driftwood and some plants

IMO… I would just use it for a fry grow out tank… I have a 30 gallon hex and I can’t stand it. I am going to use it for my German Blue Ram fry when I get them out of that tank and into my 46 bow front.
