So after a 10+ year hiatus from the hobby I am diving back in :headbang2 with a 20 gallon long build. So far I have almost everything to get the tank ready to cycle. Here is what it will consist of

20 gallon long tank

Marineland double bright LED

Designs By Nature 3D Background

Designs By Nature Driftwood

Filter-??????Need help deciding

Jager 75 watt thermometer

Here is a progress pic(crapberry phone). The background isn't secure yet im not sure whether to use silicone or pond foam.

Also I plan to have a few plants.Maybe java ferns and some kind of floating plant.haven't really decided yet.Its going to be a low tech setup.

Your tank looks nice, I'm not much of a handyman so I can't help with that 3d insert...in the stickies thier's one on "Inserting 3D Backgrounds"...i think

Use silicone if you're planning on having the background sit flush against the back--or are you planning on creating a small pocket with space to hide equipment? I have 4 3D backgrounds from DBN--including one in my 20 gallon long (is that the most on MFK? :D)

Feel free to PM me with any questions... besides JK47 and maybe one or two other people, I don't think there's anyone on MFK that can give you first hand advice on installing them with different materials and techniques.

I use an Aquaclear 50 on my 20 longs and it's more than enough filtration.

Would an aquaclear 30 suffice then?

It probably would but since you want to hide equipment back there why not get a small eheim classic instead?

Tank looks great and looking forward to seeing the progression! Post some pics of what the double birght leds look like, i recently bought one and love it!
