20 gallon long planted & breeding community ideas

So I recently grabbed a little 20gallon long tank and I'm planning on transferring all my plants from my 125gal (or what's left anyway) and I wanted to see if I could get some ideas on possible stockings for it.

I'm wanting to keep something that basically breeds on it's own (possibly so kind of live bearer). And I'm thinking some kind of algae eating fish or invert that will not eat the fry. (To keep the plants clean)

The main goal of the tank is to grow out my plants and breed something I can use to feed my larger fish every now and then. (Oscar & bichirs).

I'd love to get some kind of dwarf cichlid type but it probably won't work as chiclids tend to dig and will probably end up uprooting things.

Any one has any cool ideas for stocking or community?

You could get Endler's. Cories are cool (they breathe air!) but they need sand for substrate.

Yamato shrimp and horned snails for algae crew.

Celestial danios and a single ramshorn snail
(Cel. Danios breed like rabbits)

I've never found my apistogrammas to be vigorous diggers .I kept them in heavily planted tanks with no problem
