Hey, I just got a hold of a 20g long and was wondering if a pair of cichlids would fit in there. It would permanent because I don't have the space and money to get a larger tank at the moment, so I want to make sure that they can be in there for life. Thanks!

It depends on what type of cichlid you would like. Shell dweller, sand dwellers, rock dwellers...

I honestly just got started into cichlids. I have had other freshwater fish for years but just recently had the urge to have cichlids. I don't have any idea the different types of cichlids or who they are compatible with.

Africans are usually community fish. You normaly do not just get one or two. Shell dwellers are small and live in shells, in communities. Sand dwellers varry in size and also live in small communities. Rock dwellers or Mbunas live in pairs or communities in different rock formations or piles. For a 20 long i would deffenitly go with shell dwellers. they are fun to have, have a lot of personality, and are pretty.
