I just did a well needed water change in my 20 gallon holding tank. That tank now has a about 6.5 in. red tail x tiger shovelnose hybrid and a pbass that is about 3.5 in. I have a mini pH kit and it goes from 6.0 to 7.6 and it read 7.6. Im confused because the fish seem to be doing fine but this pH is what Im worried about because I dont want them to die. The reason that they are in there is because I have a 75 gallon that is a grow out tank for a tiger oscar a red tail cat and a florida gar. Im not sure on their measurements but they need a bigger tank. I also have a 180 for them but I cant use that until I move next month. NEED HELP! Please share ideas!!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Consistency with the PH is is key. But if you feel the need to soften your water, then a piece of drift wood will help.
