my brother has like a 20 gallor or 30 not sure and he was interested in 2 africans after he seen mine will it be possible in a 20 or 30 gallon??

and if so will peacocks work or haps?

thanks...

i don't think he could do haps or peacocks but yes he could do like labidachromis careuleus(if thats how you spell it) or some red zebras, or maybe even some pseudotropheus socolofi

It would be hard . The haps are usually way to big, the most peacocks will also get big . There are a couple peacocks that stay small but i cant remember which, a 20 gallon no, a 30 maybe.

if its a 30 gallon I would go with some brichardi, they stay small and are very peaceful as a species only family group. a male and female will also bond and breed . Brichardi would be good in a small tank, only brichardi no other fish. Brichardi are super mean little buggers with other fish but very nice alone as a species only tank. Here is a pic of my brichardi.

He could also do some shell dwellers or the small calvus species i think. Need to research some more. I got a cookie cutter page from another website, i will PM it to you. It lists species and how many of each etc..., there were actually quite a few more than i thought.

thanks for all the good information and thanks cichlid girl for the PM..

Shellies or some Julies.

def. shellies, the neolamprolongus and lamps are cool little guys but many are also agressive. There are many variants, there are also many other cool small shellies.

20 is definitely to small for any of the peacocks/hap and most mbuna unless you only have 1. Tanganyika on the other hand has a truckload of small species that will be well at home in a 20 gal. Any of the shell dwelling species and small rock dwelling species will do great in a 20.

A 30 is better but still a little small for any of the peacocks unless you only have 1 or 2 in the tank. Haps are still to big. Mbuna can be done but its a little tricky as they can be aggressive and a 30 doesn't offer a whole lot of room to get away from an aggressor. Again a 30 has far more options when talking about Tanganyikans.
