This is more for showing off my tank than photography so I'm putting it here rather than the gallery.

I'll have to post a pic of my 20 gallon some time. If you think the pots are odd, you'll just love what I've done with the 20.

Wanted to do something different so I went with a polluted river theme (btw, everything has either been tested for toxicity or coated in silicone. And the goldfish are leaving in the spring)

Chelle, that is a TRIP!!! Very innovative :) Love the boot and the fountain drink lid :)

BTW, you see how you have a cone of light coming from the flash? You can make it more even usin a diffusion setup. Easiest way is with a Very large sheet of white construction paper. You set it up above your tank, reversed U shape over the front and back rims, then put the flash in the middle facing UP. When you shoot it will bounce and make flash output a lot more even.

There are other ways, including using a white foam box, like the one they ship fish in. You just find one the right size for your tank, and put it over the tank, with the flash inside. The difficult part is figuring out how to trigger the flash through the box. What I did with mine was put the flash in a cut out with only the actual bulb in the tank, facing up, so that the sensor is on the outside.

Thanks. I'll have to try that with the paper (although the tank has a canopy so I'd probably have to remove it for that).

I've also been thinking about doing something like that with the cooler (or just some white poster board/foam board).

As we say in the navy, "good gouge" there, Ed. Have to try that one;)

Great job, Chelle, very original! I didn't see any fishline and lures caught on logs, but those of course, could
hurt the goldfish. Edited.

LOL. I was thinking about fishing line, but I was too worried about the fish. There is a bobber in there. I had to drill holes in it to make it sink because it was floating around and banging on the glass constantly. I'm thinking about adding a tangle of nylon rope. I might just leave it free floating in there (the soda straw & lid free floats most of the time).

One of these days my dad wants to set up a tank that looks like a junkyard with a bunch of plastic model cars (made up to look all beat up & rusted).

I need to find some taller plants to go in the back too (also strongly considering some CO2 so my plants will be a bit happier).

chelle, CO2 alone wont do it, as I recently realized. Once you add CO2 you start the left part of the equation, and you have to make it = by adding micro- and macro nutrients. Otherwise, with JUST CO2 you get hair algae like crazy.

Ah! Thanks. Maybe I'll just add a little more light. I did have all the plants in a 10 gallon with 30 watts of light and they were doing great (no fertilizer, not special substrate; just plants, sand, water, and fish). I had to trim them quite often, my amazon sword became 2 amazon swords, and my 6 wendtiis became 20.

But my 20 only has 30 watts right now, which I know is WAY on the low end. I'll have to check out the lighting supplies next time I'm at Lowes. Maybe mount some light sockets directly to the underside of the canopy and get some good compact fluorescents.
