I got a 8x2.5x2ft acrylic tank from a friend for free. I'm not sure how many gallons it is but in the process of moving the tank it cracked. I believe its from us resting it improperly on its face which probably impacted a corner. Anyway I have a 20 some inch crack from the top of the tank to the middle. I've read posts of people repairing smaller cracks. Also all the LFS except for one in my area tell me it can't be repaired (they probably wanna sell me a new tank). What should I do, is there a place in the Los Angles area that sells the stuff to fix it? I was thinking of using some permatex weld that is supposed to bond everything, its supposed rated for 3400 psi, but I'm not sure if it has chemicals that are bad for the fish.

You could make it a turtle tank and just silicone the crack and keep the water below it. Sorry thats probably not helpful. But honestly if you fixed it would you feel fully comfortable with it in your living room? Or would you be checking constantly for leakage. This is a big tank to have a leak. JMO though.

U COULD.. fix it.. just buy a giant sheet of Acrylic and silicone it to the back..
put the acrylic sheet inside the tank.. not out.. and put silicone on the outside of the crack as well..
u can find acrylic sheets in home deport.. but it may cost u around.. $60/$70 for the whole sheet...

But i see that the crack is the front side?? i could see some blue overflow..... It might not look as nice with such a huge crack..

woah...

no pretty way i know of to fix that...
