I've been toying with the idea of setting up a 20 gallon long. Any ideas at all will be appreciated.

In the cichlid category; cons, rams, apistos, shellies, kribs.

Yeah. I been thinking about those as well as jewels and dwarf acaras. I've had kribs before and they are cool. Rams are so delicate.

Golden rams , butterflys and ballon rams are sensitive but bolivian and german blues aren't to delicate

I would go with a nice piece of driftwood a bunch of plants and a breed apistos in it get a nice color full species

rare Apistos and dithers, what else could you want

thomasi dwarf jewels or Laetacara species, minus thayeri or flavilabris (neither are dwarves). Nano's would be a good one too, though most owners consider then touchy.

blue rams, gorgeous colors and not too sensitive

The shell dwellers are really neat and prolific! But they would do well in a 20gallon long. I also like blue rams but trying to find a pair from a lfs can be difficult. Very pretty fish though.
