  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's an older pic of my planted 20L. No CO2. It's changed a little bit since this pic, but mostly the same.

As far as low light/natural light non CO2 (low tech) plants, I've only tried a few but have had success with:

Ruby Red Melon Sword
Brazilian Sword
Anubias
Hygrophila 'kompakt'
Lutea
and of course, Amazon Sword

All of the above were grown in normal (non-plant light, or no light) tanks with no CO2 and no ferts, most using pool filter sand or aquarium gravel substrate.

As far as tips on aquascaping; just take your time and try to make things look as natural as possible. Pick a style of aquascape that you really enjoy ie: Dutch, Nature, etc and read up on its principles a bit and don't forget to use the golden ratio/rule if practical: http://www.okeanosgroup.com/blog/aquariums/1-618-the-most-important-number-for-your-aquascape/

Have fun and post pics when your done!

Forgot to mention the plants in the tank...
Water Wisteria, Java Fern, Anubias Nana Petite, Amazon Swords, and Moss Balls.
