I'm trying to find a way to create a sump that is compact such as this 200 gallon tank, I need something tall, not long, for my 500. 200 gallons should be more than enough for my tank.

Let say I was to purchase this tank, would you create a sump out of it the way it is, cut a few holes here and there, etc. if so how would you go about doing so?

or

Would you cut the top off and then create your sump, if so what would be the most efficient sump design. This will be in my living room so I would need it as quiet as possible and Im not affraid to use filter socks. I was also thinking about adding some type of fish safe plants as well.

There are many, many desgins on here, I would like to have someone suggest the most efficient desgin for my 500. A link to the build will work great.

I was also thinking about building a plywood sump but then I saw this, even thou its more expensive it seems like I would get this going faster.

I currently have 3 Emperor 400 filters, if this sump was running would it be safe to remove the 3 Emperors?

Thanks! :grinno:
