Well for the first time ever, there was an ad in the paper for a 200 gallon w/stand and all accesories. So I call right when I see it and ask some ???

First I ask what type of filter, and he said two hang on filters.

Im like ok, i would need new filtration and I got suspicious, so I ask him for the dimension. First he says imagine a 10 gallon aquarium only 20 times bigger. then I told him I mean the length, width, and height and he took his tape measurer out and told me 4 feet, by 18 inches, by 20 inches. then I told him there was no way thats was a 200 gallon. I went on a aquarium calculator and it ended up being a 75 gallon.

i regularly check ebay as im searching for a 7foot+ tank and there is hundreds of people listing HUGE FISH TANK MASSIVE and its a 3 or 4foot tank :(

good luck finding your deal

:ROFL: Thats Brilliant!! Did you ask him for the dimensions of his 10gal comparison tank?

What a monster tank!:ROFL::ROFL:

The question is, how much did he want for the tank?

I just got my 135 that way. Remember most people selling a large tank have no clue what size it is cause they aren't really into fish. Alot of these peoiple can be negotiated with really well once you educate them and then let them think about it for a day or so...lol I send them to "Class cages.com and tell them to look up the dimensions of thier tank and get back to me with some realistic numbers if they still feel like selling...lol

i've had this happen ... a "500g" listed for $250
when he called back with dimensions he said "i have good news and bad news" and i knew immediately :(

1) "the tank is only $200 now"
2) "the tank is 8x2x2"

and i had just gotten a 180 for $200 so i didn't need another :(

*but i will agree with Tanks4, i have explained to people that their "huge 100g" is really only a 55g, and then they will usually come down in price

ya those are the exact measurements of my 75 gal

Thats why its always good to do your homework and ask questions. Its your $$$$ so ask questions dont get suckered into something.
