hey guys i'm new to the diy side of things so i need some advice from my mfk brothers. i want to build a tank atleast 200 gal for my living room. how should i go about doing this? or how can i find the information that will teach me how... how thick of glass should i use? should i use plywood? how does that work? what kind of filter should i buy? What type of acrylic should i use? how much would lights be? estimate on entire setup? .... i have so many questions!!! if you have any input at all please help me!! thanks everyone!!

Hello...

Start off by reading Muni's build:

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288925

You can scale down from there (his is 300 gallon).

There are several DIY tank builds in the DIY section. Many of the have links to glass thickness calculators, etc.

Its kind of hard for this group to answer general questions. It will be better if you read up on all the information available here, come up with your own thoughts, then post specific questions regarding your design.

Good luck to you! :)

thanks for the link! you mean i can find all the info i need on this site alone?? thats so awesome!!! thanks again mate!

Definitely. Two years ago I hatched this brilliant plan to build an overflow using pvc pipes, but I just couldn't figure out how to do it in a way that wouldn't drain or overflow my tank after a power outage. I thought to myself, "Maybe it's on MFK..." and sure enough, it was. My design would have sucked, BTW.
