Ok, I know there is like 1 million of these threads already and im sorry for making it 1,000,001 but when its your security deposit and financial well being on the line some reassuring is needed. :nilly:

Its a fairly new and nice complex. I will be on either the 2nd or 3rd floor (of 3 floors total). My room will have a wall or several walls that are the sides of the building.

Will a 200 be safe sitting against one of those structural walls?

With decor and everything, you're looking at 2000lbs give or take. I wouldn't try it. If you already have a tank, put it in storage and see if you can move to the 1st floor.

I would search those million threads and develop your own opinion. Alot will have to do with type of building construction and placement of the tank along with the footprint of the tank.

Most likely it would not be a problem. One question I would ask the apartment manager is whether or not they allow water beds.

Anything in your lease about size restrictions? And if you do this you better have renters insurance that will cover any damage done-Anne

id say it would be fine aslong as you look at house plans or find the beams underneath.

I called them and asked about size limits and although the woman sounded like she had no idea she assured me there was no set limit.

Would a 125 be more suitable? like guarantee it will be fine? I would think so but what do you all think.

I have a friend who will be getting a house and i may just set up a 200 in his basement but then I have to go there to feed etc!

Entirely depends on the design of the building. Most highrise apartment buildings are concrete floored so weight's not an issue, however water damage is another thing entirely. Have apartment insurance. I was too terrified of leak/flood to have anything bigger than a 40 gal in my apartment lol.

easy question for me:

you are renting... do you plan on owning property anytime in the foreseeable future? if so, don't bother with a tank right now. i setup a 100 gallon tank and then bought a condo... biggest pain. i wish i would've waited.

I really want out of my contract now that my friends getting a house...but you all know how that goes. Blood thirsty landlord!
