I currently have a 80 gallon tank and I am purchasing a 200 gallon tank this weekend. The tank is 7 feet long. I am growing out the following fish in my 80 gallon right now:

1 oscar
1 rotkeil sev
1 jurupari
1 heckelli
1 uaru
1 chocolate
1 vieja synspilum
4 red rainbowfish

I am planning on adding 6 more rainbows to the tank. Do you guys think that the tank will be able to hold these guys long term? Do I have room for a large fancy pleco or a black ghost knife fish?

Thanks in advance for the imput!

I would ditch the Oscar for the Pleco/Knife.. I see it picking off the Rainbow fish, and possibly messing with everything else.. Besides that, you should be fine. That's my imput..

I'd be more worried about that syn picking on the others, than the oscar...but I agree the O will pick off the rainbows. Are you keeping the 80G? Could keep either the O or Vieja in there, and that opens things up a lot in your 200G. I'd add the BGK and 3-4 more jurupari personally. Or more uaru.

Thanks for the input guys. I am not keeping my 80 gallon because selling it is helping to pay for the new tank. I could always get another one later though if I needed to separate any of them because of aggression. I can move my rainbows into another tank though. Would I be okay adding the knife if I remove the rainbows?

umm how aggressive is your oscar? if he is a laid back oscar then i would see a problem just have to watch closely but if its an aggressive/territorial oscar then most likely will hurt the knife (have PLENTY of hidey holes and hidden tubes for the BGK to go into to get away from fish that may be bothering him)

My oscar is very passive and laid back. My sev is actually the one who runs the tank, so hopefully the BGK will be okay. I have tons of driftwood in the tank right now and I plan on getting more as soon as I upgrade.
