I got my first big tank set up about 8 months ago, dimensions 78"*24"*24". Current stock is:

10" true parrot
6" tiger oscar
6" green terror
5" blue severum
2 4" gold severums
3" rotkeil severum
3" red spotted severum
5" flagtail prochilodus
5" sunshine pleco

All fish (apart from the parrot and the plec) were bought as approx. 2" fish and are fed on a variety of hikari pellets, shrimp pellets, various frozen foods and live bloodworm and worms when i can get it, plus greens in the form of peas and courgette.

Filters are 2 fluval 405's, but i am intending to swap one of these for an fx5 soon, as i couldnt get hold of one when i first got the tank and the 405's should be ok whilst the fish are still smallish.

Am i overstocked now, or will i be when the fish are adults; or can i add more fish? The tank doesnt seem to busy, and there is no aggression apart from the oscar chasing slowly after the green terror occassionally.

I like chocolate cichlids, and the LFS has some really nice pike cichlids. I dont want to crowd the tank to the detriment of the fish currently in there though.

Also, what sort of growth rate should i be getting? The gt, oscar and bigger sevs seem to be growing, but the smaller sevs havent grown much and neither has the parrot. They all eat twice a day and none really get bullied out the way.

All thoughts etc appreciated

IMO you are fully stocked. I wouldn't add anything else, especially Chocolates since they tend to do better in pairs or groups. There are many different types of pikes, so you need to know which you are considering to buy before you purchase it. But I wouldn't add another fish, particularly an aggressive or large fish. Some people may think that you can add more. They will chime in and give you more advice.

I agree.

+1. How's the attitude on your psittacus? Mine rules my 210 gallon. I only have eight adult fish in there now -- the psittacus and seven severums. He is giving all of my severums hell and there is constant chasing and fighting. I'm about to thin out the severums and move the keepers to other tanks in my house.

Given that you have both a psittacus and an oscar with the severums, I'd say you're maxed out. I'm definitely maxed out even without an oscar.

My parrot is really timid, most of the time he hides underneath either of the two big pieces of bogwood whenever somebody walks by the tank and also he wont eat any food from the surface of the tank. He does come out at feeding time and you can stand about 3-4 ft from the tank and he is happy to come out. I have had him about 6 months and he hasnt got over this timidness. Doesnt bother any of the other fish, in fact the only time he even acknowledges they are there is when one strays under his bogwood!

Wow! It's nice to hear they aren't all evil. I wish mine were a bit more peaceful, but I wouldn't trade his outgoing personality for anything. He's like a puppy. He gets all excited when I'm in the room and follows me around. None of my severums are quite so friendly.
