I am about to get a 200g aquarium.

Was wondering if i should throw on a nice wet/dry filter.

or

A Canister Filter

Which do you guys prefer and what types of filters? :turtle:
:grinno:

Make a wet dry.

Wet/dry if it's not planted.

Nothing beats wet/dry for ease of maintenance, no matter what the canister fanboys say:)

Wet/dry sounds good. But what advantages does a wet/dry have over a canister filter, and the other way around.

=]

Advantages of wet/dry: Better gas exchange, ability to hide extra equipment (heaters etc.), ability to isolate fish, increase in total system volume for better water stability, ease of maintenance, more flexibility (such as being able to regulate flow rates with changing of pumps, redundant pumps to eliminate filter failure, ect...

Disadvantage to wet/dry: Take more space, generally a bit louder, not as good for a planted tanks.

WOW. Convinced already. I have chosen WET/DRY! Thanks Rallysman. Appreciate the help . But i have one more question, how are you able to hide a heater with a wet/dry?

You can put the heater in the wet/dry rather than inside the tank.

I have both.. Wet/dry then flows through 2 Ocean Clear canister filter's back into the wet/dry then pumped back to my tank
