The title should actually be: How Long till a fish gets Stunted

Basically my 200G tank seems to be seeping a bit of water out from the bottom of my tank on one side, which most likely means i have a tiny hole some where which is causing it to leak water, and as any one with a large tank knows, the last thing you want is 200G of water on your floor when you get up in the morning / come home from work...

With no choice but to move all my fish out of that tank and into some reasonably cramped spaces due to A) not having enough tanks to house them all, and B) not having enough space to setup new/spare tanks... i was wondering how long would it take to normally stunt a fish???

The fish i'm most worried about is my Fire Eel, since hes close to 2Ft in length, and crammed into a space thats works out to be around 20 - 25G worth of water...

Any way, i've spoken to the shop which i purchased the tank from and they are sending some one up today to empty out my tank and see if they can find the problem, so i'm just wondering, would 1 - 1.5 weeks effect the fish much in the sense of growth or should they be okay???

Any info would be much appreciated...

The'll miss out on some growth, as you are gonna feed only very little as long as your fish are in quarantine. But that's no problem.
Wouldn't buying a kiddy-swimpool for your fish be better then cramped quarters?

I like the kiddy pool idea. You could put all the tanks decor and filters on it too.... Maybe a 300 gallon stock tank :)

Unfortunately i live in an apartment in Hong Kong, which means no garden, and no where to store a kiddy pool or anything of the sort, which is why i had to pose the question about stunting, but thanks for the replies so far... much appreciated

If its just a couple weeks, they should be fine.

before you go crazy, verify that it is indeed a leak.

make sure the tank isn't overfilled and water is seeping down from the top, from a lose filter connection etc.

just to be sure.

Indeed, I once thought my tank was leaking but in fact, because of the bubble wand, the water was being caught by the canopy and seeping down the inside of the decorative corner pieces of the tank and out the bottom. Good luck.:)

Thanks for the advice, and yes i checked everything top to bottom, left to right, even inside out... and i'm almost 100% sure its a leak... even had the shop that sold me the tank come up and check it out and they said the same... so now its just a matter of trying to see whats going to happen as far as sorting out the problem goes :irked:

A brand new trashcan could work too, (or several) and has a small footprint. They're cheap and can be used for something else once you rehome the fish.
