So after some thinking and planning ive come down to the final fish for the tank they are :
1x Indo dat currently 3 inch
1 x severum 5.5 inch
1x flagtail 6 inch
1x oscar, not purchased
1x black diamond cichlid (African i know but beautiful) not purchased

The final decision in which i havnt decided yet was either between a Green terror or Jack dempsey
going into this open minded with potential aggression from either 1 of these but what does everyone else think is the better one for this tank?

If you mean a paratilapia by black diamond cichlid, they’re from Madagascar and more like new world cichlids thaN rift lake Africans
I think you’re gonna have some fighting with that many large cichlids but it could work, just be prepared to get rid of some if needed. You’re gonna have to go heavy on WCs as well

Yeah that’s the one from Madagascar and like you said from what I’ve read more like Americans
This set up also has a 75G sump which I opted for instead of a canister for the reason of having bigger fish, I am prepared for fighting and will separate rehome if anything happens

I’d say try it since you’re prepared, it might work, I’ve learned there’s no absolutes in this hobby
That sump should help a lot, but I would still keep up on WCs

Yea I normally change 25-50% every week and vacuum the sand every week and yeah there are no certainties seen very passive green terrors and passive JD and hear horror stories that’s what gets me worried as I’ve never kept a GT or JD before

Actually most JDs I’ve had were passive except towards other JDs. I had a large female GT and she never bothered anyone either. Really it’s all hit and miss. I had a terror of a severum before. That’s why I usually don’t say something won’t work unless someone’s trying the ridiculous, I always say just have a back up plan. My 120 has an odd stocking combo but it’s working great.

yeah i think its just trial and error like you said, what stock do you have in your 120?

a delhezi bichir, Warmouth, leopard gourami, belly crawler pike, elongatus shovelnose, tinfoil barb, and an Angelicus/eruptus hybrid.I had a severum for a couple years too but The severum got real nasty over night so I traded him for the hybrid last month. I’ve had to tinker with the stock in this tank a little bit, but other than the hybrid and tinfoil, the rest have been together for over two years. I started them together in a 55 , then 75 then the 120 lol

sounds like a very interesting tank to say the least haha, love pikes and tinfoil barbs they both look amazing
