So I lost my boat last year (engine went), and cant afford another for at least a good number of years. So this will be the first of a few seasons on foot. I need to revamp my foot-soldier tackle box. In one way, I will spend a lot more time with my family, i.e. wife, son and daughter, this summer vs. being out on the water, but i need to do some planing to maximize my shore fishing to at least stay in the game. I have a lake near my work that has bass and crappie and sunfish and rockbass, but also has pike and carp.
My question, do you think I should go with artificial scented soft baits under bobbers, or should I continue throwing artificials? The lake has quite a bit of pressure, but still has a number of fish.
What are the best grub like scented softbait imitators these days? I remember there being a bio-degradable soft bait a few years back.
I know I could use google, but some of you may be ultralight pan fishing experts who fish from shore, and could point me to some great gear?
I'd appreciate your help. I'm no novice, I've been fishing for 35 years, but what are the latest trends in freshwater shore fishing?
I usually set goals at the beginning of each season, and this season i'm looking to catch at least 1-2 bass, but hopefully a number of pan fish. I'm setting the watermark quite low as you can see.
