Hmmm?
I recently bought a 20G high for breeding convicts, and the first thing I wanted to do was build a proper stand for it. I decided to make the stand slightly taller, and use it as a bookcase as well. I made the plans in sketchup, but changed them slightly.

Design:

Ignore the hood, I am trying to figure out how to incorporate my incredibly cheap under cabinet light fixture. I have not started building the hood yet.

Current Progress:
I still have to add the trim, doors, and few other middle pieces.

Everything is Pine 1" x 2" or 1"x6" (sideboards)
The polyurethane is drying on the trim and other pieces, so I can add those when they are ready.

The lumber cost about $15.00 for everything, and already had the plywood, stain, and polyurethane. Combination of brads, wood glue, and staples holding it together.

Its level, I just can't hold the camera straight.

I got this cheapo light for $11.00 at the grocery store, gonna see how I can add it to my hood. Hood is currently drying.

Finished the hood and managed to make it with all scrap wood. Used extra trim from the stand / a roommates project. The light was $11.00 at the grocery store.

How did you get the light to stick to the hood?

I think I have the same light as yours in my kitchen lol mmm (steals my own light to use on aquarium) :screwy: :nilly:

Looks good! I would add a back to it. A back would not only laterally stiffen it, but it would hide all the wires etc.

Its an under cabinet light thats why :grinno:
It has holes on top so you can attach it under a cabinet.

Thanks! I thought about that, the support for the hinges is ALMOST on the back, maybe a few inches off. If I have to modify my hood to accommodate my filter I think I will do that. (I hate wires)
