This should be my last post about this tank.

While I wanted a 30g the teacher gave my group a 20g tall tank.

So I will need some fish to go into a 20g that will hopefully be fine with Electric blue acaras since the school project fish will be put into my own tank at home when I get it.

The tank has a pebal substrate and the Ph is around 7-7.6 the school only had test strips so its hard to tell.

All recommendations will be appreciated
The only requirement is that they will be able to co-exist with electric blue acaras or a simeler ciclid since my tank at my home will have a pair of some type of peaceful cichlids as the centerpiece.

I would look at dither fish like black skirts, black neons, tiger barbs, etc. Or a breeding pair of bushy nose plecos

I agree with the above. They all are good tankmates for acaras and given the limited space of the 20 that is probably the best you can do.

If you want to keep it (somewhat) geographical correct I would go with a pleco and the skirts.

Would bristle nose plecos do good with a rock substrate?

Mines in gravel, doesn’t seem to care.

Is driftwood required with them? Cause Im leaning towards getting 2 bp and some black tetras (3-5) unless how that many would overload the tank then I will just get the plecos

Not necessary but wouldn't hurt. That should be ok for stocking. Just need to watch the parameters and adjust water changes accordingly.
