I'm looking to replace my apistogramma with a mini monster. I was looking at maybe a pea puffer or a Betta. I don't want a "normal" Betta though. Any suggestions for mini monsters? Or possibly any other different centerpiece fish? Hopefully something hard to find.

If you are looking for some nice betta's check out Betta Channoides or Betta Albimarginata both are pretty sweet looking bettas imho...

Gonna deffinately look into those. I love Bettas. Just dont wanna make a separate tank for them.

And I did ask for monsters! Just need to narrow them down into the ones to slow/small to eat my T. Espei.

I have Betta Channoides in a planted community tank with Celestial Pearl Danios, Ottos and a couple of very low quality Crystal Red Shrimp and haven't had any problems so far...
