20L bucket of pond matrix, a visual conversion.

I've been designing my own sump and was having some trouble visualizing how the (oddly shaped) 5G bucket would fill out my cubic area, and too, how large to make that section.
so I poured it into a 20L (24"x12"x12") and here's the result.



so, a 5G bucket of matrix will fill a 24"x12" area to a level of 4".
a little easier for me to work with now.
you should have seen the clouds of glass particles rising from the bucket while I rinsed it. after that there was still about a cup of soggy powder left in the bottom of the bucket.

Hopefully you noticed before breathing it in! Is this media you had lying around or did you purchase it in a five gallon? Where and what was the cost if you don't mind me asking?

Oh I expected it to be dusty. that's why I did it in the back bathroom, window above the tub open with a fan blowing out. I expected there to be some dust while pouring it into the tank, I didn't expect it to rise out of the bucket while rinsing. I wasn't running the water very hard since I was looking to dampen the media, not fill the bucket.
I got it from amazon for $108.something /free super saver shipping. the free shipping was nice with it being 45 lbs.
