20L salt

Im setting up another salt tank! Either for a mantis shrimp or 2 black clownfish! It will be a 20L. Here are my plans as of now!

Substrate: sand

Lighting: Coral Life Lunar aqua

Skimmer: Visi jet(no sure if its correct name but I tjink its close)

Live rock: I don't know right now hhow much do you guys think?

Filter: I am not sure? Any suggestions?

Power head: Korailla power head

Salt mix:Coral life

Any suggestions will be nice! Oh almost forgot are there any corals or anenomes that can live with my mantis shrimp? I know they can livve with black ocel. And which will be a better idea for the stocking?
 
Just to be clear, you mean 20 long not 20 leter? haha Um... I don't think mantis take corals... I was under the impression they tend to only be a problem for fish and inverts like shrimp clams small crabs etc. I could be wrong as I have never had one, but I think they are ok with corals.

Just making sure haha, as a canadian I mix the two up because Liters are our standard haha, just making sure you weren't trying to but 2 clowns in a micro haha. But ya you should be fine with eather setup I would think. I'm sure others with more experience with Mantis will chime in.
 
They should be kept in a tank by themselves as they generally will eat everything in your tank (fish and invertebrates).

Corals he will not bother from what i have read, but he will kill anything else. The corals may die as well because he is a digger and constantly moves rocks and could crush and ruin your corals if not properly placed. You might want a spearing mantis and not a hammer/crusher. They have the power of a 22, and can sometimes shatter glass aquariums. Acrylic would be best but a spearing mantis would have no issue.

This is pretty much all i know, my girlfriend knows everything about them and this is the little i have remembered from hearing about them.
 
Your plan sounds pretty nice. I actually set up my first salt tank a couple months ago and its also a 20L that has 2 clowns in it and about 23 or 24 pounds of live rock and a few corals. I still might add 5 more pounds of LR. I had an XP3 laying around so i am using that as filtration with a Koralia 2 on the other side.

The 2 black clowns would be very cool in there. As cool as mantis shrimp are, i would take a nice clown pair with some coral over one. I really like the picasso and naked clownfish too.

I don't know which to pick... hey canuck could you ask your gf about corals? Mayb if he gets the tank arranged how he likes Ill add the coral after....but how will he be with anenomes?
 
More good info im gonna start to piece my full salt tank together this week and threw the end of the semester and im getting great info Thanks a bunch guys
 
I think if I can do corals n the peacock ill shoot for that! Oh, did I miss anything guys?
