Good idea? Bad idea? trying to decide what size cylinder to go with for my 125. Its fully planted already but I would like to add more plants and get some bushier growth and make the most out of all the lighting i have on the tank, so am looking to go up from my low tech setup to full CO2. I ran a CO2 setup on a 50 and a 10 gallon display at a store i worked at but we were just using a little 5 pound cylinder. Was thinking a 20lb would be nice since it would probably last quite a while but im not entirely sure if there are any downsides to running the bigger cylinders or any reasons not to.

I run a 2 litre bottle on my 50G at approx 2-3 bps and that lasts a few months if fully filled... so i would guess a 20lb bottle should last you a good 6 months+ if used on a 125g at 4-6 BPS???

I have a 20 lb cylinder for my 75 gallon. Only downside is that it may not fit under your stand. You can buy these tanks used but be aware of the dates on the tank...after 5 years, each tank must be retested and certified in order to be refilled.

sweet. the stand is 40" tall so i don't think ill have any issues fitting the cylinder under there. theres quite a few welding and industrial supply shops around here that I can get cylinders filled and swapped out at. sounds like ill be stopping by one soon!
