I've had this idea for a while now. I'm just wondering if it would be worth setting up or if anyone has any input as to making it more efficient/effective. The plan is to have a 210 (7x2x2) on a 30" (will probably increase to 32" or 34")stand with a 75 underneath as a 2nd display tank.
Here's what I was thinking:

  • [*=1]PVC overflow from the 210g down to the 75g
[*=1]Return filter would pull water from the 75 and pump it up to the 210

If the 210 is a planted tank consisting of HC carpet, Christmas moss & a few other plants (open to suggestions as I'm aiming to have it heavily planted), what sort of filtration would I need to look at? I mentioned this idea to someone and they said I should think about setting up a mini sump sort of set up at each end of the 75g by blocking off sections for filter media.

Its just an idea at the moment, so any sort of input would be greatly appreciated. :grinno:

Im doing this pretty much exactly with my 135/55 sump. Im going to build an stand and leave the sump exposed and mostly planted. Hidden socks one end and pump and media on the other......tank in the middle.

I think pump selection and turnover are pretty much stock dependent though. Iim housing 15 rose lines and an army of smaller plecos(L75,L147) so Im shooting for around 5-7x per hour.

Haha thats great! Thats exactly what I had in mind.
How do you mean by doubling the frames?
And give me a heads up when you build that 135/55 sump, I'd love to see it!

There's an extra 2x4 running side to side and top to bottom, front and back. On the build for the 135/55 ill be using the supports to actully hide the sump sections.......in theory lol

Thats what I was planning on doing too. I'll probably do a few more drawings to make sure I have it set up the way I want. Planning on having it built by the end of next month.
