This tank is a maintenance account of mine. I switched it from a reef tank after we had a plumbing failure that caused a complete redo of the system. Client wanted to go with something less expensive and still lots of color. I was breeding these guys already so I could get him a good deal. I put 150 in initially but now there is easily over 200 with all the baby labs, zebras, and kenyi in there. This is definitely one of my favorite maintenance accounts I have every fully done.

I saw the video, nice fish. But how do you get your Africans to come out! Mine just hide all day and I never see them!

The key is overstocking the tank. It is the key for both limiting aggression and keeping them visible. If you listen to most people that tank has 10 times the number of fish it should. With that number of fish however there aren't enough caves for everyone and most just set up shop in front of the rocks. Also, if someone starts to pick on another fish it just swims into the school and is lost to the aggressor. For most Africans this seems the way to go in my experience.

That being said this tank is overfiltered by most standards and heavily water changed. I have a sump with 10 gallons of bioballs (filtration equivalent 600+ gallons) as a wetdry and I do 50% water changes weekly to the system. These two concepts combined make for a stable system and healthy fish.
