far far away
I got lucky and just recived a free perfecto brand 210 gallon from my marine bio teacher. The problem is though that I am a perfectionist and the front sheet of glass has a lot of scratches. :irked: My question is how do I remove the frame around the aquarium without damaging it, and also how would you go about replacing the front glass sheet, and reattachimg it to the rest of the tank?

Thankyou!

More trouble than it's worth. Once it's filled, you probably won't even notice the scratches.

Problem is I noticed the scratches when there was water in it as it is still being used by my teacher at the moment, I get it once she gets a chance to move the ray out.

That is an awful lot of work. You basically have to cut out all of the silicone which can be quite challenging around the frame. How about just turning the tank around? Use the back as the front. If it is painted scrape it off. That would be a LOT easier.

I don't know how the tank got so scratched, but for some reason they are all over it, so really this glass replacment seems to be my only option :( So is there anyone out there who has any tips on how to do this? Need help please

How much does the glase pane cost? I imagine a piece that thick and large would be very expensive. Have you considered selling the scratched tank and putting the money for the new glass toward a new 210. I got mine new for about $700. Sounds like more hassle than its worth.
Good luck.

New glass would be about $135 and I live in Iowa so not many people looking for tanks out there, but selling is an option if I can't seem to find some way to get rid of the scratches. Also could get some free 55's to sell as well.but I'd prefer to see if this is at all possible.

Turn the tank around paint the scratched back and and have a clear front!

Sounds like the back is just as scratched as the front...

shallow, have you considered using a glass scratch repairing kit? I don't know much about they, but it may be worth a thought.

just looked up some stuff and cerium oxide powder seems to be my best bet, which is actually a good thing, because now I wont have to disassembal the tank! :)
