im planning to set up 180gal in the fututre as my new reef tank with similar filtration - i have a mag 18 (that currently runs my skimmer) that i want to use for the return pump -- do you have any problems with the overflows not being able to keep up b/c i know on the 180 the overflows are rated at 600gph a piece ( i dont know if they are the same on your tank)

anyways your tank looks great, nice and clean - it looks like you dont use any live rock?

I broke down a reef tank about a year ago and just wanted to go with a different look for this tank, no real reason for not having live rock. As far as the overflows are concerned, the tank is AGA and you are right they rate the boxes at 600 gph but I think that is way under rated. I have a Friend with an AGA 110 with a single box and he runs a Mag 18 with no problem for about a year now, also the pump is circulation only and is losing very little flow due to head pressure (perhaps -200/300 gph). Is your 180 AGA, oceanic, custom? Any pics?

That ear spot angel is very impressive!
Epaulettes are very similar to cat and bamboo sharks for breeding. If you find a compatible male/female pair, all they need is enough space.

i think its an aga ( i bought used and i know its not an oceanic) i thought the mag 18 would work ok - i had it setup on the 180 for a couple weeks when i first setup the tank but it was too much flow for fw - the overflows were dumping water into the wet/dry but it seemed to hold up

sorry i dont have any pics of my 180 right now (currently is setup fw and houses my clown knife, tsn, and florida gar) my reef setup now is a 90 gal i have pics of that...

by the way im thinking of doing a marble shark or an epeullate in my 180 reef setup - did you ever keep your shark in a reef tank (i know they dont bother corals but what about other fish, inverts, clams, etc.)

just wondering if you had any experience

they will eat any invert or small fish that they can catch and they are also very clumsy or destructive depending on how you look at it. I have 2 females about 17" and 19" and a single male about 29" and he knocks things over all the time.

nice reef by the way. Coraline looks really good, have you tried "purple up" by Carib-Sea? The stuff is amazing.
