Nice tank (for now) dude :-)

your oscars are at best about 1/2 size
your aro will get to be 6' long when all is said and done :-/

you will be good for a minute, but not 2 minutes :-/

Put the arow somewhere else :-)

the aro has already started getting abit nasty so iv thought about swopping him for something else, someone i know has 6 uaru's so i might chase them as theyre friendly fish, what do you mean my oscars are best at half size?

Oscars get to be 12-16" in size.

You said they were 5-7" long right now.

I cannot comment on the other stock you have, beyond what I already have. I don't have personal experience with that stock. I have oscars though, and I have researched arowana's because I was going to get one once. There is a video on here that shows about a 5' arowana eating a dead rabbit. That guy has 6 of them. If you want to see how big they get, check that video out.

I have seen ppl with 6 oscars in a tank your size, but they didn't have all the other livestock you have either.

I wonder how long until the snakehead starts dominating your other fish. Nice tank though.

where are you getting a 6' aro from? thats way high, and really, i havent seen many oscars past the 14" mark. i also wonder when the snakehead will dominate the tank (dont know a thing about them since theyre forbidden in the us)

Are you sure about that one?

This fish has relatively large scales, a long body, and a tapered tail, with the dorsal and anal fins extending all the way to the small caudal fin, with which they are nearly fused. It can grow to a maximum size of around 36 inches or more in captivity. In the wild, it has been known to reach over 48 inches in length.

I would love to see a 6' long aro in a fish tank.

If I got the number wrong on the aro, my apologies. I saw 6' somewhere, maybe i was high at the time. I just remember thinking I was not going to have enough tank space to have one.

no worries, i think speshul ed's point is that there is a lot of correct info on this site. a lot knowledgeable hobbyist and scientists post here. there is enough of the mislabeling, extremeties in min and max sizes and other terrible info being passed on by many workers at various lfs around world. if you "heard" something somewhere, dont post it. let an expert or someone with experience in the area post. your post of saying that a silver aro can get 6' reminds me of the time a guy told me a gator gar reach 15ft and weigh 400+lbs lol. just be sure of what youre saying is correct before you post something

No worries...it's even fairly rare for them to hit 36" in captivity as by the time they hit that size they're fairly old. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just saying you'll see a lot more 24" and under.

However, when you get a fish, you should always plan for the size it can be. Ya gotta care for them just like you would any other animal.
