This weekend I found a 210g 72"x24"x29" on craigslist and bought it. It is new, never been set up.

I need to go under my house and reinforce the floor before placing it my living room. This does not bother me, I have the know how and access to tools, etc.

I need to build a better stand, the one that came with it looks cheap and my wife and I have invested a lot in nice furniture so it has to look good. No problem, woodworking has always been a hobby.

The problem is I am kind of intimidated by the tank itself. Its huge! I almost passed up the sale when I saw it in person. But I knew I really wanted a showpiece in our living room and this was it.

So am I crazy? :screwy:
Or better question anyone else ever been a bit intimidated by their first BIG tank?

My stock is still in question.
I currently am housing in my 120g a Midas who is just starting to get to be a jerk at 9" to my 5 red hook silver dollars around 5" each. He has just started to relentlessly chase them, and fights with my sailfin pleco.

So I either keep the Red hooks and pleco and go with milder cichlids or I keep the Midas and get him some fun tankmates like a jaguar cichlid, Convict, Salvini, the usual tough cichlids.

my mom is still recovering from her heart attack when she saw my 150g at my house.

I was at the store just this weekend and saw the same type of 150g that you have and I do like the tall tanks but it looks pretty intimidating too.

I know what you mean, man. Haha, I was looking for a 55g a year ago, and stumbled across a 125g. I showed it to my dad expecting a "NO. WAY TOO BIG." And he said, "Lets go have a look!" We got it and its now been up for a year...Looking to build a tank around your size soon.

It will pass and seem like a normal size tank. At first my 220 seemed like an ocean. Now I am thinking of some way to put another one beside it for a 12' super "tank" that is really two. Unfortunately there is a weight bearing wall in the way.

Congrats on the new tank.

I would kill for a 210...that being said I probably couldnt get it into the house anyways.

I was very intimidated because Of how much it was going to cost me to get the filters and everything to set it up and I purchased a broken tank and I wasn't 100% convenience in my self that I could fix it haha.
