210g tank 125 sump. To fluidize bed filter or not?

Whats up guys. Long story short i have a 210 7x2x2 tank I'm setting up. I picked up a used 125 to use as the sump and had planned to stuff it with scrubbies and ceramic rings. After talked to some fellow hobbyist, i have second guess my original plan. So my question is mfk.
  • Should I run the 125 as originally planned?
  • Should i run a 40 breeder fluidized k1 bed filter
  • ORR should i run the 125 with a fluidized bed filter and ceramic rings and scrubbies?
I assume added water volume on the 125 is a huge plus. Is it possible or useful to run both types of filtration in once sump?

if bio filtration is what you want go with k1 fluidized all the way.
if you want a variety of different media make a chamber for the
k1 and use the rest as what ever else you have in mind.
 
My only vote against the k1 bed. Was it would cost a FORTUNE. To fill the entire 125 with k1. That got me thinking into doing a section of k1 then another section with lots and lots of ceramic rings and scrubbies.


What im trying to get at is. It's alright to run k1 with other media correct?? In seperate baffles of the sump that is
 
My opinion on this is that sump can't be enough for the fish.. ( just cleaning suck*) I have a 300 with a 125 divided into 5 sections n I have 1 section almost filled to the top of the water line of that baffle with 30L of matrix.. so I still have 1 extra section for what ever I choose.. so I personally would choose the 125 as a sump so @ the end Ur not limited in sump space... When its all done u cant really add but if extra u can always use it up...
 
I too would suggest the 125 as a sump. You could add baffles to have mechanical filters, bio filter chambers, along with additional space for heaters, filter floss chambers, separate return pump chamber, etc...
 
Awesome. So looks like I'm sticking to my 125 idea with the added k1 filter. Thanks for the help guys. Im gonna start up a full build thread in the next couple days for the progress on my tank.
