22" RTC

Please look up my previous posts/threads before yelling at me on this one. Jaba, our rtc, is our family pet. I special ordered him years ago (2") knowing exactly how big he was going to get and is handfed a lot. He can NOT be trusted with other fish unless they are BIGGER than him. He and my old achara, who was 29" fought at times and Jaba would win (no marks).

He is NOT done growing. He will not do in a tank less than 265g (which is actually too small). Expect growth of another foot.

Never fed live feeders, but do give him dead fish from other tanks to eat. He eats mainly market shrimp (what you and I eat), and a LOT.

BEFORE anyone takes him, we will visit the home and look at your size tank/indoor pond to make sure he'll be taken care of. I also expect pics of him throughout your time caring for him as your pet.

He's never been exposed to meds and has a UV light in his tank. He also has had mega filtration during his years with us.

Good luck ... You seem to have a lot of emotional attachment, which might make it very hard to find a new home. With limitations as such, maybe consider starting a "WTB bigger tank"?

Agreed on there's a lot of emotional attachment...That's why I'm not listing him on CL as I don't want to wonder in years to come of what kind of person took him and what they *really* did with him. I've no problem with contacting zoos adn driving the distance (already emailed my local zoo). i've also no problem with keeping him. I'd just like to see him go to someone who truly appreciates him...I adored the tank much, much more when my 1st cat was alive. Not so much anymore

Hello , I am very interested in your RTC . I have a 210 gallon aquarium with 1 Giant Albino Gourami ( about 16 inches long) . This is where he would be housed. I have a second 210 with two (2) 25" Arowanas a 13" Peacock Bass and a 14" Vulture Catfish. Please contact me @ 917-642-1019

I have a 375 going up in 2 weeks already have one one rtc thats been growing for the move about 12" now........the 375 will have my silver aro and 4 rays I can send you pics when I pick it up this weekend

just an FYI (more for other people who see this too) rtc and other large fish are very hard to give to zoos/aquariums. They get overwhelm with people trying to donate their fish to them every year. Occasionally you can get them to take fish, but more often then not they decline. Additionally, a lot of people like to leave fish/reptiles/pocket pets at the doors of these facilities. The sad truth most get euthanized since they have no place to house them and no demand at other facilities. Sorry to derail but don't want people to get the idea they can buy small monsters now and donate later.
