Buddy of mine has a 220 with a very thin crack on the bottom trim of the tank. It leaks from the spot of the crack. Do i have to replace the botto trim if i want to fix the tank and use it? Or would a reseal of the inside be enough? Does the bottom trim provide structural integrity to the tank? Or is it more for looks/providing a smooth surface for the tank to sit on...thanks

Post pictures of the crack. If it was my tank right away I would replace panel even with a crack size of a penny

I think he is saying that the frame is cracked. If so and the tank is leaking then I would say it would be best to disassemble the tank and use new silicone to put all the panels back together. Then, the bottom frame could possibly be repaired if it is not too badly damaged. If it is not repairable then I think it would need replaced. I do believe it adds structure to the bottom and top of the tank.

Trim is largely cosmetic AND protects glass edges from getting banged. If you've got a leak coming from the crack in the trim, it's because the seal between the glass has issues, perhaps the glass is even damaged from whatever managed to crack the trim.

The crack on the trim indicates it took some type of hit and the underline issue is the leak behind it. Only way to know is take the trim apart and see if its cracked under that or it the tanks silicone is no good might've done something due to impact causing small leak and can be remedied by just resealing the tank.

The trim can be fixed easily even with some strong epoxy. You can epoxy both sides and then flip it trim around to the other side so you can't see it.

I asked him if i can order a new trim, bring it go his house. Take off the old trim and if the glass isnt cracked id buy it. If the glass is cracked id give him the trim for what i paid for it...he said no. Im stuck. Very interested in the tank and its a great price. But i need piece of mind...any suggestions. He said that there is no visible crack in the glass
