Hi. Im posting this here as well, since I'm not sure where this belongs.

I need your help. I can purchase a custom 220 gallon aquarium with a very nice sump built on the side for $250. The problem is the aquarium is showing stress cracks on the bottom seam. This aquarium is acrylic. Is this a good deal? Is the aquarium hard to fix? Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Monty

See your other post. There are ways to fix it, but I'm not sure how good they would be. maybe a block in the "L" of the seam, basically remaking the corner seam.

I thought about using a small fiberglass seem all the way around the tank. Similiar to what glass tanks have to add support, but not sure. Sometimes it's better to spend 500 more for a 180gallon glass tank.

Well, when you seal/bond acrylic, it makes it like there was never a seam there. The two pieces actually become one solid piece unlike glass which is held together by silicone. Fiberglass would not be as effective as acrylic bonder.

ah ok. maybe i can seal the areas with that #16. why would I need to put in another acrylic strip for support then?

I decided not to buy this tank. I will probably eventually buy one new. Thanks for the input.
