I currently have a xp4 & 3 filter my tank which has 2 peacock bass 1 silver aro 1 tiger oscar 2 albino channel catfish 1 ck 1 softshell turtle 1 tsn 1 pleco. All fish range from 9inches to a foot. I no this tank is under filtered so my question is how effective would a sump strictly for bio teamed with a fx5 strictly for polishing and mechanical do for this tank thanks for the input all

Hi,

I think ANY extra filtration will benefit your tank right now :)

I would run a sump with some filter socks and such as well. If it were me I would also look into getting another fx4 or something...take advantage of the sump and have it do more than just bio if possible...

You have some bio mass there that requires some heavy duty mech and bio. What is your water change schedule like for this tank?

You realize the turtle will eventually get at least one/some of those fish, right? You would be amazed at how they can corner fish in an aquarium.....depends on the size of the turtle of course, but the turtle will grow up eventually no matter it's current size. SS can get pretty darn large. I live in FL and they are always around. Very large turtles....

Hope this helps.

helps alot lol i did research before buying this lil guy the species he is the females get giant 24-36 across the males on the other hand stay a lil less than 18 inches max which is awesome lol he is already bout 10 inches and doesnt bother anyone stays outta the way digs up plants and minds his own business like being hand fed to.. lazy ass lol my wc cycle is based upon my feeding im trainin the bass to eat dried shrimp so the feeding minimum really but wc 30-50% a week

Sumps are best for bio, but with a good sock set up can be great for polishing too. You can go huge with the sump and not need anything else besides.

sump for bio and FX5 for mech/polishing would work well.my 210 doesnt have a sump but i have different filters doing different jobs.Eheim 2262 for bio,FX5 for mech, cascade 1000 running UV,polishing and holding puragen.AC110 for more polishing.
