Well I finally got my 220 gallon setup and running in the past month and needless to say I'm quite proud of the final (as we all now there's never a final) setup. Right now I just want to post a shot of the tank setup and then I'll post the rest of the setup over the next couple of days. As always there were quite a few ups and downs, but I think I've got a design that will hold up in the long run. For now the tank just has a variety of little tropical fish, but I would like to put my 3-10" red bellied piranhas in the tank, with the hope that the size of the piranhas will limit their urge to kill the little guys.

Cool!

The tank looks great. I look forward to the rest of your DIY stuff and set up. Just a thought, painting that PVC black would go a long ways to making your tank look perfect.

you can paint stuff in a fish tank ?
what kind of special paint do you use ?
is it totally non-toxic ?

I paint my PVC with Krylon Fusion spray paint. It's totally fish safe and it bonds well to the plastic. I painted my standpipes and return in my 190g a year ago. It holds up well and there's been no ill effects. I'm about to paint the standpipes and returns for my new 350g tomorrow with the same stuff. You'll like it so much better black.

If you decide to do it, wait at least 48 hours after painting to put it back into your tank. You can do a search for "Krylon Fusion", a ton of people use it.

But otherwise, your tank looks awesome. I love the wood. Good job.
