Hello, I currently have an aquarium that is around 50 gallons. It houses 1x 12" Clown Knife, 1x 8" Tinfoil Barb, 2x 6" Columbian Sharks/Catfish, 1x 6" Blue Gourami, and 1x 6" Bumblebee Catfish. I KNOW I NEED AN UPGRADE LOL! I am probably getting a 220 gallon tank. I am keeping the Blue Gourami and Bumblebee Catfish in this tank because they will eventually be dinner, Right? Also, I know that Columbian Sharks/Catfish are brackish, And that clown knives can't tolerate alot of brackish/saltwater. When they DO need more salt, I have a separate tank for them. But anyways, I was wondering HOW SOON to upgrade? The Clown Knife and Tinfoil Barb are growing INSANELY fast! Do I need to upgrade Immediatly, or can it wait a while? When I DO upgrade, What are some good tankmates are any of these ok? Oscar, Bala Sharks, More Tinfoil Barbs(schooling fish!), Channel Cats, Other LARGE things that would get along, AND make the tank look not as empty:D THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!:D

I found some EXTREMELY cheap Gravel! Its called Quikrete Pool Filter Sand. $6 for a 50lbs bag at Home Depot!

I would upgrade soon as you can they get big fast.and it will sneak up on you. Most of what you lisred far as tankmates.would be fine would stay from channel cat, every one i ever had was mean and i dont think they would be a good idea for you..

Yeah, I agree with the channel cats. But, Iv'e seen Channel Cats in ponds that are as tame as a dog, they even let me PET them/Hand Feed:D
But they were VERY used to people. Then Again, Iv'e had some BITE me and WON'T let go! I don't think I will be getting one of those lol:) What Are Some Of The BEST Tankmates?

I mean like, what fish would get along THE BEST with them:)

Oh, I'm also gonna probably be using a SUMP for filtration etc.

Yeah, I know! they grow EXTREMELY fast!:D

I think some bichirs would be good, florida gar, dats, arowana silver or black but they would need larger.tank for life. Uaru, severums there is alot of options it just depends.what you like.

Do you think that Oscars would be good?

Do you think that Oscars would be good?

Yea they would be fine just make shure your knife has hiding places. Oscars always seem to make good tankmates i havent seen too many aggressive ones. Jeff rapp @ www.tangledupincichlids.com almost always has some realy nice wild strains personally i think those are they way to go.
