Hi all. I'm getting ready to stock a 220 gallon tank located in my basement. The dimensions are 96"x18"30" high. For filtration I'll be running two FX6 and two AC110. I'm quite torn on stock list, as I've never owned a tank this big. Being as the tank is in my basement, which is where we like to hang out a lot, I'd like some crowd pleasers. Ideas?

Take your time to decide and believe me you will be more content later.

The depth does limit you somewhat. Rays and Jardinis are ruled out.

Personally, i would go for CA/SA cichlids and some silver dollars as dither fish.

I quite like the paratilapia polleni, not a CA/SA cichlid but they will mix. Large, will stand out and apparently has a similar personality to an oscar.

Tank size is one thing to consider but also what's your tap water like,ph, hard or soft? Some fish seem to do ok in just about any water if not extreme one way or another but some will perish in the wrong water chemistry.
If you have not already, test your water to see what's suitable and what's not.Water can be adjusted but it's a bit of a pain.
Just thought it was worth a mention.

Are you going to have a heaterless tank? There are quite a number of cichlids that will be fine without a heater.

It will be heated, the basement is fully finished as well and room temp sits around 70 degrees.

Right, the depth does limit me. How would an oscar fare in a 18" deep?
