Seeing what's some good suggestions for a UV sterilizer for a 220 gallon tank . Price and quality obviously the 2 sticking points. Thanks. Oh and one that sits inside the tank since I won't be running it in a sump type return line.

The Jebao 36 watt has had some decent reviews and for the money I think it's worth trying. I plan on getting one for my 220.

Are you using canisters? If so then this unit is big enough to just plumb into the return of the canister. There is a recen thread on here with a before and after picture and the difference over 16 hours was quite significant.

It is a uv steralizer that is meant for a pond and is really a bit overkill for an aquarium but it won't hurt to have it on there. It is large enough that it doesn't really disrupt the return flow from the canister.

Yea I got 2 canisters (over filtering as usual ) so even if one is slowed down some won't hurt anything. No such thing as overkill in this hobby lol. But thanks for the advice. I'm checking them out now. If you get yours before me post some pics if you don't mind.

Running a Jebao 36w on my 180 (230 total volume) and it's working awesome. Crystal clear.

It really depends what you want the UV to do, since most UV's are clarifiers that are designed to kill algae but little else...

If you are after a UV sterilizer unit that can kill parasites and other nasty stuff you'll need to make sure its rated accordingly and that the flow isnt too strong that there isnt enough contact time between the UV and the water flowing through to kill off any free floating parasites etc...

Spot on. Just depends what your goals are.

I've read somewhere that the rate of 100 lph/watt through the unit works like a charm for sterilizing.
