I got a good deal on a 220 tank stand glass top filter everything for 500. I was wanting to get an arowana. How many can I put in there and what other tank mates? I'm pretty sure my lfs can get silvers and jar. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the dimensions of the tank? Might be ok for an adult jardini, most likely too small for an adult silver aro.

You can do a jar tank with that, it will most likley be a solo tank. IMo would be a total waste of a 220 just for a jar. You wont be able to keep a silver/black in there for life. Since your tank is only 2ft wide you would comfortably be able to house him in the 220 till he/shes about 2ft. Otherwise great pickup on the 220g.

go for a community of about 4-5 silvers that will keep them for about 1-2 years depending on growth.

if you chose a jar, get one and watch it grow while you spoil it with food. i do not have experience with community jar tanks.

4 or 5 silvers in 2 years I could get another tank.

Bad idea, in less then 2 years all the aros would be at least 24" no matter what size you started with. This would be a disaster, I kept just two silvers in a 72x24" until they were 26". There is no way 4-5 would work.
