Here
When I order this tank, I was thinking of getting 4 holes drilled. 2 holes for a pond UV pressure filter with the pump inside the tank. The other 2 holes for a canister filter or leave it plugged up. what do you think?

you should make the other two holes for a big sump where the canister is

I was thinking of using the other two holes for water changes.

1 hole to a detachable hose for drain and the other hole will have a 50gallon tank where I can treat the water before slowly pumping it back in the tank with a powerhead.

i say a sump/ wet dry would be your best bet, and have like an xp4 or fx5 on the back of the tank

I've never messed with a wet dry/sump before. Do I still need an air pump in the tank with a wet dry set up?

All right, makin that leap of faith & takin a chance to learn, way to go yellowFiN!!! :clap :clap :clap :mwave:

BTW, GREAT job w/ the pond, even better seeing the next generation appreciating it as well, that is a BEEAAUUTIFUUL thing, BRAVO, BRAVO!!! A GREAT BIG ]V[FK'er :headbang2to you!!!!!!!!!!

If I was you, I would do the whole water change idea. But instead of the canister filter just do a wet/dry. No you dont need an air filter unless your temp is around 83+. look around the boards for w/d diy desighns.

Brand, Rubbermaid, your local hrdwr store, aside from the pump. Size, imagination, imagination , imagination :) :) :) http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67797 or as simple as http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34433&highlight=DIY+wet/dry a few idea's to start w/, many, many more if you do a search for w/d here on this forum, glass though as you will see isn't neccesary. Cheer's mate

If you use an fx5 as your cannister filter then you already have the water change feature built in because they have an extra port thats used to backflush the filter thats really handy for water changes. I also have to agree with the others on the sump. That's a far better choice than the pond filters. I build ponds quite frequantly for other people and although they seem like a big bang for the buck you have to understand that they operate on a LOT looser tollerances (water quality wise) than an equivilant aquarium filter would.
