Hey guys, I am setting up a new tank and already bought an eheim 2217.
I plan on adding another 2217 for a total of 2. So question is, is it enough to run 2 eheim 2217s on a 180 gallon tank? (First time running a canister filter system so I have no idea)

Tank stock is a turtle (7 inches) and about 100 -120 neon tetras

That will work .I run three 2217 on my 180/ biomedia in two and chemipure and mechaniical media in the third, best filter IMO 29 yrs w/o one problem and quiet.

I guess it would depend on how well you clean up after the turtle.
Some of those hard shell guys need a shop vac to get up their poop.
Those Tetras, when having that many, will pump out a fair amount of poop as well.
How well a pair of 2217s work will really depends on how well you maintain your tank.
The 2217 is, and has been a great filter for those who want a canister.

Never have understood how a guy can run a canister with only bio media.
Dosen`t it get full-o-gunk?
Don`t you have to clean it allot?
Even if it pulls from the very top of the tank, dosen`t the media get full of organics, or do you have some pads in place to keep the media clean?

Floss first and later clean as whistle with great flow, you just need to clean floss every six months or twice a yr, works like a charm for me having three on each tank distributes the filtration, try it.
