Hey y'all, I have an Eheim 2217 that I'm going to use in my 75g freshwater set up. I will be using pool filter sand from leslie's pools and am wondering if my future Oscar could possibly kick up the sand and ruin my filter :( should i be worried? Is there any way i could prevent it?

Your 2217 has a bottom intake with a top mounted pump. The sand that enters the filer will just collect on the bottom. It would be hard for the sand to make it up through the media into the impeller.

Seriously searched all over the internet for days and it took 5 minutes on this cite to get my answer. This cite is the best! Thank yall so much :)

You will still want to check/ clean your filter frequently at first though. Need to gauge how much sand is collecting in the bottom, too much build up could cause you problems.

I use PFS with 2 Fluval FX5s with the intakes about 4" from the sand and I get very little sand in the can.I think you will be fine using the 2217 with PFS.
