Hi guys!! New to the forum. I have just upgraded from a 50-60L to a fish pod 120.
I brought a eheim 2227 professional canister and I've turnt it on and it just sounds like it's bubbling. someone help! I was told to suck a certain pipe but have no clue. everything's in the filter right as well as the tubes!!

Im not familiar with eheims but if someones telling you to prime it that way then have the intake tube in the water and suck on the output hose, the water should fill the canister and flow through it without the filter even being on, if its like my sunsuns that is.

Yes....and fish water isn't poisonous....good thing..lol
If one is apposed to sucking fish water, one could use an aspirator or turkey baster...or a shop vac...depending on the size of the filter...hahaha!
I'm surprised Eheim didn't explain it the directions....

Wait a minute!!!! Eheim 2227? Isn't that a wet dry? Those have a priming button right on top....big button... can't miss it. Just fill canister with water, put the intake into the tank...push the button a couple times to pump water up through in take and then turn it on. Do NOT run the canister empty!!!!! Always fill the canister before you do anything!!

I have no idea about any eheim, I don't own one. I know my sunsuns have a priming button as well, but there will be times it seems to get air locked and I have to manually prime it via drawing water through the hose.

Ok...so I am an idiot....apparently the Pro2227 wet dry DOESN'T have a primer button....probably a blessing disguise....its sucking time!! Haha....just kidding.
Sorry OP...it has been many years since I used canisters...but I always used Eheim.

Hi Charlotte and welcome!!!

I also set the filter up and suck on the output hose to start the water flowing into the filter and then connect the spray bar. You can then plug the cord into the power outlet.

I have the Eheim 2229 so can help with any other specific questions. Do you have the owner's manual? I find the instructions for this model filter extremely easy to follow.

Also, did you buy this filter used?

give rid of it, this is one of eheim worst filters. My experience and I'm a huge eheim fan. I've had 2227 and 2229
