Ok So i just sold My monsters they Included:

2' Pacu, 26" Clown knife, 10" Oscar (my first fish :( was a baby when i got him), 2x 6" Texas, 5" Red Terror, Mating pair of Convicts nealry full grown, 8" Red Devil.

So I bought some 1300gph Wave makers Made a Sump (need a return pump still). I filled the Tank back up last night after i drained it and changed the back drop to Dark Blue. Moved the tank back to its place and its now full of water again Wave makers are circulating the water like they should the Fx5 is back on line and im awaiting the Sump pump.

How long do i wait for the Sump Bio-life to begin (cycled) and how long will the tank actually take to be ready for fish?

Do i just keep checking the Parameter or are there other things to look for?

If so how long does it typically take 225 gallons to cycle?

I cant really remember how long i waited last time as it was a couple years ago and i moved most of my 90 gallon water to the 225 when i upgraded to the larger tank. I basically through in the Tap water conditioner to the rest of the tank and inserted the fish cause i only had 3 days before the 90 was sold. I know i rushed the fish but they all lived.

I want this water to be so crispy the fish wouldnt want to be anywhere else but my tank.:headbang2

Ill be getting an arowana and they arent cheap! I want this to be right.

Howdy,

If you only drained the tank and refilled, and your FX5 has not been disconnected nor cleaned, then your tank is ready for stocking right now :)

If you are starting after a complete cleaning, then add some liquid bacteria (Sera Nitrivec has a new composition and is now my top choice). That will allow you to add small fish (like a juvenile aro) within a few days. Just stock it slowly and monitor nitrite and ammonia.

Happy fishkeeping,

Well i had the tank offline for about a week or 2 and i drained the Fx5 and filled it back up. So i guess i kinda F'ed up then...

What temp is the best for the Baby Aros?

And im guessing the Nitrates and nitrites need to be 0.

Ammonia and Nitrites need to be zero. Nitrates are the final decomposition product, keep them at or below 50 mg/L.
