Hello MFK,
Last night I purchased a 225 gallon tank. Came with 3 Emperor 400 HOB filters, lights, canopy, stand, fish the whole 9-yards. The fish included with this tank were:
2- 7" Bala Sharks
3- 5" Parrot Fish
1- 8" Midas
1- 5" Eclipse Catfish
1- 4" Rainbow shark
1- 6" Syno Lace catfish
and about 6 African cichlids.

Here is where I have my problem I myself already had a 8" pair of Festae. I am obviously putting the Festae in the 225 it is by far my largest tank. But,if I put them in there are there any of these fish I could add with them? I know I could get away with the Midas, but, could the Bala Sharks work well as dither fish where they are so fast? Would they be able to get away from the Festae? The other fish I have no problem with putting in other tanks, but, I have no where for the Balas, and they are my girlfriends favorite fish ( next to the parrots) and she would be very upset if I told her we would have to get rid of them. Any personal experience would help. I mean the Balas are about the same length as the festae but just was unsure. Also, if anyone else has any other ideas on what I could put with them that would be great. I want to have a good looking and active tank. I understand how mean Festae are and I probably do not know what I am getting myself into, but, if anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know. Thanks.

Ive seen alot of people use balas as dithers, so it might work out ok to keep them with the festae. In a tank.that size they have room to get away.

Yeah I plan to leave the top open for them and have a lot of caves and stuff on the bottom

I think I'm just gonna try it. If it works ill leave them in there if their aggressive towards them I'll take them out...

I have a 10 inch bala in with my festae growouts. The largest of which is a 8 inch female. No real problems to speak of.
