LV Golden Knights!
Getting a new tank to replace an old 150 gallon I have 72 x 20 x 24. In addition to the 150 I also have a 360g 96 x 36 x 24 and a 120g 48 x 24 x 24. I am building the stand myself, price is for glass only. Is the extra 6" width and 45 gallons worth the extra $325? I will be stocking with peacock bass.

72 x 30 x 24 ~$625

Or

72 x 36 x 24 ~$950

Marine land 300dd is about the same price for just the tank if you don't want to build it

Difference in price is because of a thicker bottom and being tempered for the extra width right? I personally don't think it was worth it and that is why I got a 225g for my pbass.

Sorry I was not more clear, I meant the tank when I said glass. I am not planning on building the aquarium, just the stand.

Right on the money! I have been planning on getting the 225 for a while, but do not want to regret not getting the 270 afterwards. How do you like your 225 Ken?

Wide tanks are awesome! How long do you plan on having the tank for? Look at it this way, $325 is less than a dollar a day extra for the first year....

TBH I'm not sure why there would need to be a substantial increase in glass for the extra width, I don't see why it would need to be tempered, maybe just an increase from 10mm to 12mm for the base.

Very true, I will plan on the 370 for now then. We will see how my bank account looks in a couple weeks lol.

Depends on what you are keeping bro. If bass/ larger fish...you already know the answer. Your Azuls would love a wide tank, and so would my tig.

But, I like wide tanks better.

imo on a 6' tank I'd say no as most things that require that extra width need more length than 6'. Now an 8' tank? might be worth it then, but still 50% more price for 20% more tank seems terrible. I'd much rather put the extra 300$ into the stand/filtration/stock.
