Hey guys I have a jardini arowana in a 225g tank and I was wandering if any of you could give me some tips for a tank cover that will prevent the arowana from jumping out.
Unsure. 18inch silver arowana is the biggest I had in there, never got out. I do regret drilling holes in the lids. Did it to let the tank breathe but it made for more edges for the fish to bump into. Could always use thicker material for more security.
If you go acrylic Id highly suggest going thicker than 3/16. I use 3/16 myself to cover the 2x1.5' holes on my 325 and it bows enough to look unattractive. Id suggest get at least 1/4". They also make tank net covers if you want to go a cheap route. Or, if you want to be really bougie, get some LED ABS acrylic. Its black and you cant see through it at all but if you put a light on behind it it lets the light shine right through and looks really cool
If you don't mind the splash, you could create your own custom screen like for windows. I've seen in both black or white aluminum trim. You would still need to keep it down.
Polycarbonate is another option and there are ways to keep it secured too. Sometimes it helps to have a picture of the tank and all sorts of ideas come to mind on how best to keep the screen/lid secured.
